Hatch Method Pant CWP Edition One

We conceived of HATCH a while back as an umbrella to capture some of the unique projects we take on a blurr.  With too much on the go and a move to a new facility thrown into the mix, initiatives stalled and it’s only now that we’re getting underway.

blurr HATCH projects intend to bring together our diverse supply chain, nimble development platform and network of seasoned product developers to move ideas from cocktail napkin to retail. As much about unearthing talented individuals as it is about compelling product, HATCH is a platform that will allow us to do what we love; work with motivated individuals to put forward captivating product.

In addition to putting forward the blurr brand, we have a considerable history of design/development/production projects under the labels of others which ironically, have reinvigorated our commitment to captivating product.  The projects underway have enabled us to expand our team considerably and engage some phenomenally talented people.  Some of he projects underway include a major, technical brand development project underway with Dong In Entech / Anvil SNH to launch into Asia,  as well as a few things closer to home including programs underway for Whistler Blackcomb and the Sea to Sky Gondola.

The Chris Webb Parsons Edition Method Pant is our first foray into these unique partnerships.  Chris is a climber and one pushing standards and, having fallen off more than I’ve gotten up, I understand the line is often very fine between succeeding and failing.  Many will apply chalk directly to the thigh area of trousers to speed application to the hands when milliseconds count.  From this, Chris introduced an idea under his label Blox, out of the UK, of a mesh thigh pocket to contain the chalk.  We’re building on this concept with the CWP Edition Method Pant and bringing in another talented guy, JJ Mah, to push the concept forward.  JJ is no stranger to high end climbing and is now studying at Emily Carr University of Art and Design; we were reacquainted as blurr is participating again with the Industrial Design program at ECU…more on JJ later.

Our goal is to give you visibility into these projects from the beginning, hoping you’ll enjoy watching them develop and ideally contribute your thoughts.  We’ll provide you with visibility into the stuff you don’t normally see - rough concept sketches, scrappy prototypes and comments coming out of field tests - in the hopes you get the same enjoyment out of the process that we do.  This will all culminate with an initial limited run of the CWP Edition Method so that you can get into a pair to decide whether we got it right.
