When I was only a nebulous little creature in my mother's belly around the same time my sister, Hayley, suggested Shawn for a name, my mom took me for a ride up Mt. Whitney. So, I've been climbing unofficially for the past 25 years. Most of that time, I spent protected in my Californian womb - honing my skills around the Sierras from Bishop to Big Sur. My parents encouraged me to get out to the mountains by backpacking, skiing and climbing vacations - making sure I always finished my homework along the way. Climbing and school continued through college and now into medical school at Cornell University's campus in NYC. Dessert, wine, art, dancing and friends are obsessions equaling rocks, mountains and dirt. So, in an ideal day, I get climbing and city together. Recent highlights include establishing new FA's in Bishop like RISE a 50ft high and scary as hell boulder and RESOLVE a V13/14 in the Gunks as well as delivering my first baby - scrubbing on a C-section! As for the future, expect another Jewy Dr. Diamond whose gonna dance his tits off. CHALLAH!!!
