![]() josh haynes Josh grew up in Fort Worth, Texas where he ate, slept, breathed, played, and lived baseball. After high school he watched his dreams and chances of playing professional baseball slip away due to several lung-collapsing injuries. Never one to just sit around and sulk, he quickly gathered his things, moved to Colorado to pursue another one of his dreams?being a ski bum. After a couple of years on the slopes, Josh found himself living back in Texas; where he soon discovered his passion for another sport that would change his life. Rock Climbing!
Soon after, Josh became obsessed with learning as much about climbing as he could. He quickly realized that going to the gym 2-3 days a week just wasn't enough to feed the unmanageable hunger he had for climbing. On a mission to become the best climber he possibly could, and as quickly as he could; Josh started training 4-5 days a week every week. As you can imagine it didn't take long for him to discover the sheer magnificence of outdoor "real" rock climbing. He was hooked. Training took on a whole new meaning, it was no longer about plastic or competitions but all about climbing outside. Eventually Josh decided it was time to do nothing else but climb, so he hit the road. Living in an old ambulance, which he converted into a makeshift camper, he became a guide at the bouldering mecca known as Hueco Tanks State Historical Park. He guided there to help fund his addiction to climbing for several winter seasons. Once the bouldering season would end Josh would then travel to wherever there was talk of amazing endless climbing. He lived this nomadic lifestyle traveling all over the U.S. and Europe for three years until he recently got married to the girl of his dreams, which he meet while on the road. Josh now coaches two junior climbing teams in Texas, and is one of the most sought after route setters in the region. Although a bit more domesticated, he still finds plenty of time to climb and travel. MORE ABOUT JOSH HAYNES ![]() photos << >> |
