November Sessions 2007 a great success!
The 4th Annual
November Sessions bouldering competition is in the books for 2007. This year’s
C.E.C. sanctioned event took place on Sunday, November 25th at
Cliffhanger Coquitlam. Each year the competition has continued to grow in
popularity, and this year’s event was no exception. We had an amazing turnout,
with 170 registered competitors vying for top honours in 8 different
categories.
The morning session was set
aside for the youth category to lead the charge through the 54 problem
set. Competitors were given 3 hours to
compile their top 5 scores for the day, with most competitors using every
available second to pad their score cards.
Highlights include Cliffhanger’s own Kate Hennesey taking top spot in
Girls 11 and under, Maegan Kelleway edging out Alannah Yip for tops among youth
Girls (14-15), and Alex Bombay, Kyle Murdoch, and Jake Forsyth finishing 1-2-3,
in the Boys 11 and under category. With
just under 100 competitors making for a packed youth category, route picking
and on-sight prowess seemed to be the determining factor for a winning
strategy.
Next it was the adults who
took the stage later in the day. A
strong performance from Thomasina Pidgeon, netted her a 1st place
finish among Women’s advanced category.
Other highlights include blurr b-unit athlete Jamie Chong narrowly
defeating David Echeverri for 1st overall in Men’s Advanced, and Conrad Haegert taking 1st place among a
packed field in Men’s Intermediate. The
adult field turned out to be one of the largest to date forcing competitors to
make those all important on-sight attempts count. Full scores for both youth and adult
